My name is Katherine L. Monahan LCPC I received my Master's Degree in clinical counseling in 2010 and was licensed as an LCPC - conditional in 2011. While training, I did internship hours for a female re-entry center and did therapy hours at a men's work prison. I have expertise in the areas of corrections and re-entry into society. Previously, I was a case manager at Community Health and Counseling Services for 15 years. I worked at Mountainview Youth Development Center with adolescents for 5 months before moving to a therapist/clinician position at Charleston Correctional Facility and Downeast Correctional Facility, spending two days at each during the week. I am also doing part time private practice in the Bangor Maine area with a focus on working with various disorders including PTSD, Depression, Anxiety, Bipolar, Eating Disorders, OCD (Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder), BPD (Borderline Personality Disorder) and many others. The strategies used come from Dialectical Behavioral therapy (DBT), solution focused therapy, CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), MRT (Moral Reconation therapy) and acceptance and commitment therapy with the inclusion of existential therapy intertwined.
